Tour Points
Shirakawago is a small village that is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (cultural heritage).
There are rows of private houses with a unique architectural style called Gassho-zukuri. At this time of year, you can enjoy the nostalgic village covered in snow, creating a fantastical landscape.
A total of 25 buildings are preserved, including 9 buildings designated as Gifu Prefecture's Important Cultural Properties.
The three streets located in the center of Takayama City, which is lined with mansions built from the Edo period to the Meiji period, are tourist attractions that represent Hida Takayama, which is known as the "Furui Machinami (old townscape.)"
The vermilion bridge that spans the Miyagawa River that runs through the center of the city is a famous photo spot, located about a 5-minute walk from the Furui Machinami.
This museum recreates the festival stalls of the gorgeous Takayama Festival, which is considered one of Japan's three major festivals, with the skill of craftsmen.
You can freely tour the facility, which not only has a reproduction of an 8m-long food stall, but also has the world's largest drum and karakuri dolls.
